We journey to physical temples (churches and places of worship) seeking God, while carrying within us the very sanctuary we seek. The outer temple invites us into communal worship and tradition, while our inner temple reminds us of the intimate, personal nature of divine relationship. When we understand both truths together, our spiritual practice becomes richer. The reverence we show in sacred buildings extends to how we care for our bodies and spirits. The stillness we seek in temple walls we can also cultivate within ourselves.
